New Workflow nodes for Boards

We’ve added three new nodes to support Boards so you can you use Workflows to create new boards, add columns to existing boards, and move cards between columns.

:discourse: Workflows and Boards are available on the Business and Enterprise plans.

:microscope: What’s changed

When Boards is enabled in your community, you’ll see three new nodes in Workflows:

  • Create board
  • Create board column
  • Card moved

Create board is an action node that creates a new Kanban board. Configure the board’s name, slug, and which tags and categories constrain what appears on it.

It also includes an access control field so you can assign a permission level to one or more groups by entering group IDs directly or piping them in from a previous node — handy if the prior step in your workflow just created a new customer group.

Create board column is an action node that adds a column to an existing board. The board ID input accepts the board_id output from a preceding Create board node, so you can chain the two together in a single workflow. For each column, configure the title, icon, color, tag, and sort priority.

Card moved is a trigger node that can be used to initiate a workflow whenever any card (topic or floating) is moved between columns. You can scope it to a specific board or leave the board field empty to trigger across all boards. It passes the card, the old column, and the new column as outputs to downstream nodes.

As you start to use Workflows and Boards together, let us know! We’d love to hear what you’re building and learn how we can help power more collaboration and automation in your community :rocket:
