Push notifications on the PWA app for me have been broken for a long time now.
When I first enabled them on 16.1, it worked, but shortly after the 16.2 RC (from what i remember correctly, could have been sooner), they stopped working for me.
I have it set to enabled in Meta’s settings and iOS, but they are still not coming through.
I am currently on the 17 beta, but this is not an issue with the betas, nor iOS 17. On every RC build since 16.1, it has not worked.
The only possible thing I could see is that I have an apple watch? Even when I am using my phone, it doesn’t come up as a banner and I do not see it on the lock screen either. I don’t have a Mac or anything else which can pick up my notifications.
I upgraded to iOS 17 last night, and notifications died. I have everything enabled and turned on Notifications (even in the experimental settings of Safari), and I no longer get notifs.
I’m on 16.6.1 and notifications haven’t worked for ages now. From memory, I think they started to work with 16.4, so maybe something changed since then.
I’ve upgraded to 3.2, where the issue with disappearing notifications was apparently fixed, but I still have the same problem. Whenever I enable notifications, they work for one day, only to find out the next day they’re gone. The only fix is to disable/enable notifications again. I am running the latest iOS 17.4.1 and 3.2.1 Discourse. Is anyone else having this problem?
Unless you pay for Discourse hosting you don’t get notifications via the hub app because of how Apple’s notification delivery API works. PWAs used to work but I haven’t gotten notified by one in months if not years at this point
Back in the day (2022) when I ran my own site we had Fig which would deliver realtime notifications but it seems to have been pulled from the app store and I’m not sure if the backend service still works.
