Hello!

I am writing topic posts in Google Docs. When I copy and paste them into Markdown I am losing the formatting for bold and italics.

I’ve tried searching Discourse Meta discussions but haven’t found a solution. Is there any easy workaround for this without needing to manually edit once it is in Markdown?

Hi! you could try:

or copy/paste your text in another editor (libreofffice writer works) and from there bold and italics are preserved.

Hey Benjamin, thanks so much for these ideas.

I downloaded LibreOffice and just copy/paste from Google Docs > LibreOffice > Markdown and it works well.

EDIT: I also just tried the github convert and it works even better! Perfect solution.
