Notify an admin that they are reading a private category they are not a member of

Hello,
The issue occurred on the forum I administer.
In good faith, an administrator mistakenly posted a message in a private category they were not a member of. Administrators can see everything.
Is there a way to warn them that they are not a member of the private category they are viewing?

I know there is Warn admins/tl4 when replying to closed topics but I am not sure if it’s possible to extend that to support whole categories.

Do you want the admins to see that category at all? If you want them to see only categories they have access to, the suppress_secured_categories_from_admins site setting might be a solution for you.

If I enable this parameter suppress_secured_categories_from_admins, will administrators still be able to modify the settings of private categories?

Why don’t you try? If you cannot, you can simply disable the setting again. Then you can decide you don’t want to use it, or decide to disable it temporarily when needed.

This does seem like a reasonable warning to include in that theme component, I’ve opened up a PR against it for consideration

Once merged, it would enable warnings like this

At the moment, I’d wait for the feature to be merged. Kris has suggested a new feature, and David has to review and approve it. Then you can install the theme component like any other one: Installing a theme or theme component
