Prevent Staff Flag Review

Hello :waving_hand:

I am here with an interesting question related to staff flags.

So suppose i’m a moderator/admin in a forum and i post something rule-breaking and another user flags it i will be able to handle the flag.

But

What if because the flag is against my account i see the flag but just can’t handle the flag because it’s aggainst my own user.

Why this may prove helpful is because if a user is abusing the fact their staff and just ignoring or removing flags from the queue becasue it’s incriminating them they don’t want to get in trouble. But wit this as a new feature i think we may prevent rouge staff members and let other’ staff handle the issue.

Now obvously if im the only staff it won’t affect me because someone will need to handle it.

En Espanol:

Hola

I’m not sure that this is an elegant solution in practice? Obviously, moderation bias exists (if I write a post and it gets flagged why would I want to take it down?) but if the post is a normal, rule-abiding chances are the user is just trigger happy on the flag button and there are better ways to handle that then revoking the ability for a moderator to moderate.

If this moderator is actually making spam posts then that’s also a separate issue. Moderators are meant to be upstanding members in a community and if this person is going around posting spam to your site maybe they shouldn’t be a moderator

If you’re concerned about how mods are handling flags you can always keep an eye on things in the Review area.

The core principle of moderators is that they are trusted members of the community. If that is not the case, an admin should reevaluate their choices rather than trying to come up with a technical solution to address that problem.

True it could be a first offense that’s why their sitll mods,

While yes that may be true if im not online for part the day they handle it while im gone it may not show up later unless i know to filter by handled flags

Is this a hypothetical scenario? Or a situation that you are actually facing?
