Preview screen super different for internal links

AI-generated summary

A user, jidanni, noticed that internal links in the preview screen do not always reflect the exact URL. They provided screenshots of links A, B, and C, showing the discrepancy. Moin reported not experiencing the issue, but jidanni suspected a caching problem. merefield confirmed that the preview does cache links. jidanni further observed that oneboxes also appear with errors, which resolve upon posting. They proposed adding a Refresh Button to the preview window as a solution.

Link A:
https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences/emails
Link B:
https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences/
Link C:
https://meta.discourse.org .
And here’s what they look like in the right side preview screen:

Well you see that even though I added “email” at the end of Link A, the preview doesn’t show it.

My preview looks like the links in your post

So maybe it is also a caching issue.
If you slice and dice them, do they always fully update in the right. Or just stay the way they were when you first pasted them in?

Yes, it caches them.

It’s not a screen zoom thing again, is it?

As a matter of fact it also shows oneboxes, but with the Failed to get og: warning in them, which then also suddenly deflate upon posting.

I got it! There should be a Refresh Button in the right preview window… I’m so brilliant I shall make a post about it.
