It can be hard to see the words sometimes.

Actually, this doesn’t appear to be a Discourse issue, rather an issue with Ask’s theme. Most PMs (here included) appear fairly different compared to topics, but on Ask they appear more or less identical.
Edit: Just confirmed this by changing my theme on Ask from “Replit (Dark)” to “Discourse (Dark)”, and the issue no longer occurs.

On Discourse (Dark) compared to Replit (Dark)? It’s because the default theme (Replit (Dark)) has a lot of CSS edits to make it look the way it does.
