eextra is experiencing issues with HTTPS redirection from https://www.mydoimain.com/, resulting in a security error. Other addresses, such as https://mydoimain.com/, http://mydoimain.com/, and http://www.mydoimain.com/, redirect correctly.
itsbhanusharma and pfaffman suggest the issue is due to a lack of a valid SSL certificate for the www subdomain. pfaffman recommends using a service like Force HTTPS or creating a certificate for multiple domains.
eextra questions why a Let’s Encrypt certificate wouldn’t cover the www subdomain. pfaffman provides a link to a meta discourse article on setting up Let’s Encrypt with multiple domains.
eextra also asks about potential SEO implications of not having a certificate for the www subdomain and whether an external premium SSL certificate would help or complicate the matter.
I managed to install the site but I don’t know why the redirection from https://www.mydoimain.com/ doesn’t work.
the rest of the addresses work, that is: https://mydoimain.com/ ===> https://mydoimain.com/ http://mydoimain.com/ ===> https://mydoimain.com/ http://www.mydoimain.com/ ===> https://mydoimain.com/ (also work )
the problem is
https://www.mydoimain.com/ - security error
What’s wrong?
You don’t have a https cert for the www. You can search here for how to create a very cert for multiple domains, but you’ll need to modify those and it’s a bit tricky.
The easier solution I to use www instead of using the bare domain and have forcewww.com redirect to the www for you.
