Removing NEW status from topics - behaviour changed?

Hi there, I was wondering if the behaviour has changed in Discourse regarding how and when topics get their :blue_circle: new status removed in the topic list, as well as ceasing to appear in the /new and /unread lists. I’m 99% sure that it used to wait until the user scrolled down to (and presumably read) the last post in the topic for it to be registered as having been read. I think there was even a slight minimum time that the user needed to remain there before it was considered as having been read. Now it seems to be marked as having been read as soon as the user enters the topic at any post level. Can anybody confirm what I think I’m remembering? Or is it a hidden setting that I’m not finding? Thanks a lot.

If you enter the topic and exit back ou quickly, I also see a tracking indicator. But it’s temporary. Gone on refresh. Is that what youre seeing?

For unread topics, if you have 5 unread replies, and read 3, there will still be a tracking indicator of 2.

For new topics, if you don’t read the full topic with all its replies, the blue dot goes away, but IIRC the link won’t be grey on the topic list (it’ll still be white).

In the 2nd option, or if you enter a topic that is neither new nor unread, and read right to the end, the link is grey on the topic list.

Is this what you’re referring to? Thanks.
