Users are reporting that math rendering does not work correctly inside Discourse polls. The math markup renders in the composer preview, but not within the poll itself, displaying as tags instead of the intended MathJax rendering merry. This is similar to a previously reported issue with embedded posts merry. cocococosti confirmed the bug, noting a difference in HTML tags – outside polls versus inside. They also suspect a conflict between the math plugin and the poll plugin, as safe mode disables the proper rendering. A workaround is to place the formulas outside the poll and reference them cocococosti. codinghorror inquired with sam about support for math markup in polls, who responded that support was not built in but welcomed a pull request. joffreyjaffeux states the issue will be fixed in a linked post: https://meta.discourse.org/t/mathjax-not-working-in-poll-options/370632/6?u=joffreyjaffeux
Inspect element reveals … . Can someone point me in the right direction how to fix this please ? (Assuming the solution is similar to the above-linked post)
When inspecting the source code, I saw formulas are rendered in ... but in the polls, formulas are rendered in ... . If I test it in safe mode (with plugins disabled) all formulas are rendered in ... . Which makes me think the math plugin doesn’t work with the poll plugin.
As an alternative, you could put your formulas outside the poll, and then reference them in the poll like so:
