The discussion is about allowing moderators to reply publicly as a group, rather than as individual users. DeanMarkTaylor proposed this feature, citing the desire for moderators to clearly indicate their replies as the position of the group.
Several suggestions were made, including creating a shared username and password, using staff messages with CSS to suppress usernames, and changing the ownership of posts. However, cpradio noted that changing ownership is an admin-only function, making it inaccessible to moderators.
sam suggested relaxing the restriction on staff colors to allow moderators to use them, and cpradio confirmed that staff colors are already available to moderators.
Another option proposed by riking is to use shared accounts with distributed passwords and browser profiles, which was met with positive feedback from DeanMarkTaylor.
Members of the moderation team on one of my Discourse instances would like to…
… reply as “Moderators” or “Committee” to clearly indicate that it is the reply is position / view of the group as whole.
Whilst there could be a specific username setup for that purpose, I don’t like the ideas of multiple people having and sharing a separate username and password.
These users are not “admins” so “impersonation” is not reasonable.
I know we have private group inboxes now…
… is it possible to reply publicly as a group?
Another option is to have a shared account, with the password distributed in a group PM and login accomplished using browser profiles, and signing your posts to indicate authorship.
