Reply format to show employees holiday in topic calendar

AI-generated summary

In a support discussion about displaying employee holidays in a Discourse topic calendar, opcourdis initially asked how to format replies so that holiday dates appear in the calendar, noting that the documentation doesn’t specify the required format. NateDhaliwal suggested reviewing the general events documentation. opcourdis later discovered that using the “Insert Date and Time” button in the message editor is sufficient — no need to create a formal event — and planned to update the documentation. JammyDodger confirmed this, quoting the official guide: replies must include a description followed by a date or date range inserted via the composer’s date function. opcourdis thanked the community, explaining they had only read the “holiday” section of the docs, which omits the Insert Date requirement. The key takeaway is that to register holidays in the calendar, users must reply to the topic and use the composer’s date inserter — not create an event — and include a description above the date. Screenshots were shared to illustrate the process.

Documentation for the calendar plugin mentions

3.Replies to this topic will be treated as vacation time for the posting user

However it is not mentionned what reply format is needed for the dates and time of employees holidays to be visible in the calendar.

Would anyone how to do it?

Perhaps following this ?

O

The insert date and time button from the message editor … menu is how to proceed, I will add it to the documentation thread as this is not mentionned.(some may think that you may need to create an event but you don’t, just add a date/time stamp)

Yeah, it will need to be a calendar reply with the dates in, etc to register on the calendar:

Thanks for the help, as I was looking to create a holiday calendar I only read the holiday part which does not mention the need to use the Insert date function
