In this support discussion titled ‘Request a howto auto post from a RSS feed to a chat channel by eg. using make.com?’, frold seeks a way to automatically post new RSS feed items to a Discourse chat channel to serve as a ‘news central’ without cluttering the forum. maiki suggests using webhooks with platforms like make.com to send messages to a Discourse chat channel, referencing the Discourse Chat documentation. frold admits difficulty setting it up due to limited technical skills, prompting Stephen to ask for specifics on progress to offer targeted help. merefield asks if a similar solution exists for topics, to which maiki replies affirmatively, pointing to the RSS Polling plugin and its GitHub repo. frold clarifies the need is specifically for chat channels, not topics. maiki reiterates that chat webhook support is still evolving and encourages frold to share setup progress for assistance, noting official guides may come once the plugin stabilizes. frold reaffirms the goal: using chat channels to aggregate RSS news without overwhelming the forum, especially while it remains low-traffic.
You can send a message to a webhook you’ve made for a given channel. There is a section of the Chat topic that covers it: Discourse Chat
Any kind of hosted services platform (such as make.com) will be able to generate a webhook, use that to send a message to the webhook you’ve created on your Discourse site. ![]()

Discourse Chat is still undergoing a lot of development and changes could still happen. Once the plugin has been released and stable, I’m sure the guides will be forthcoming. ![]()

I’m still looking for a solution to automatically post content from an RSS feed to a chat channel. This way, the chat channel could work as a “news central” - instead of “spamming” the forum. The forum is not that active yet - so normal topics would get lost in the content if too many feeds were used for RSS Polling.
