I felt that currently, managing categories in Discourse is tedious and unintuitive, especially for forums with many categories. A drag-and-drop interface for reordering categories, similar to XenForo’s system would greatly improve usability and efficiency. This feature would provide a more seamless and user-friendly way to organize forum structures. It would also enhance admin workflow by allowing quick adjustments without navigating multiple settings. Would love to hear thoughts on this!

Agreed! I’d go as far as to say all implementations of sorting items with arrows to move things up and down should be replaced with drag and drop ordering.
For example, we’re using the Tag Icons component and have 150+ tags with icons. If I want to add a new icon and move it up in the list, it’ll take far too many clicks to achieve.

Ik zou dit ook graag als functie geïmplementeerd zien. Het is zo moeilijk om de volgorde van categorieën te veranderen. Het kost uren en is zo traag, vervelend, foutgevoelig door hoe de pijlen werken, enz.
Ik zou ook graag de mogelijkheid willen zien om de subcategorieën onder een categorie automatisch alfabetisch te sorteren, en daarna, nadat het alfabetisch is gesorteerd, een paar te verplaatsen indien nodig (niet elke categorie is geschikt voor alfabetische sortering, maar het toestaan van alfabetische sortering maakt het werk zo veel gemakkelijker en dan kunnen er handmatig enkele aanpassingen worden gemaakt).
