Right clicking in composer finds image from post behind composer

So this is an interesting one. If you are looking at a post with an image you can right click the imagine when it’s covered by the composer and still open it that way.

Steps to reproduce:

  • View a post with an image (for example: View counter for each post, not just 1st one)
  • Open the composer and scroll so that the image is behind the composer
  • Right click the composer where the image would be and notice that you have options like “open image in new tab”, which work as if you had right clicked the image directly

This is reproducible here on Meta and I’m using the latest Google Chrome.

Quirky. Additional specification: it only does this when clicking through the composer container, not the textarea.

I’ve added a pr-welcome in case someone wants to dig into this, but I’m otherwise not convinced this is causing real issues with using the forum, so noting as #wontfix from our side.

What do you mean by this? I can right click anywhere in the composer, including the textarea, and this will happen. I can even highlight the text to right click for something like “Copy” and the options like “Open image in a new tab” are still there.

Seems to be a difference between the rich text editor and the markdown editor.
