Many users share videos from rumble.com in our community.
However, onebox does not create proper video embeds for this ever-growing video platform:
However, the website provides the necessary data for the embed via Json video object scheme (like many other video websites):

Is there a way that onebox would also consider/parse the widely used video scheme JSON LD in the future in addition to oembed?

Anybody? Any plan for onebox to look for the Json video object scheme if it can’t find viable data from the meta tags?

It would be great to have support for Rumble, especially given that YouTube is censoring a growing amount of important information and points of view.
Now that Rumble is a public company, there will certainly be a growing number of Discourse users who would like for Rumble videos to be as easily embedded as YouTube.

I just ran into this also. I’d love for Rumble videos to work the same as Youtube and Vimeo videos on our Discourse. My partner and I just started a Rumble account and are frequently publishing videos there that will also be posted on our community’s Discourse. Being able to view the videos directly from Discourse would be a great upgrade. Thanks for considering this!

Also having issues embedding videos from Rumble. Would love to see this as a Discourse feature in the future. We’re using youtube for a lot of our content, but moving forward we want to transition to a platform that doesn’t censor or subjugate it’s users.

This. Youtube has become diametrically opposed to actual…discourse.

I have found this to work. Add "https://rumble.com/ “Allowed Iframes” to Site settings.
Then click on embed in rumble video.
Switch from Jave Script to iframe and copy & past in your post.
I will check but there might be an auto iframe theme component that may work to just post the rumble link. But not sure.

Install this theme-component and add rumble.com to both the theme component settings and the allowed iframe site settings. Enjoy!

This is a theme component that adds the ability to open iFrames in lightboxes.
Samples
This component adds an “expand” button on top of the iframes you enable it on.
 [expand button]
Clicking the button will open the iframe in fullscreen in a lightbox.
 [full screen iframe lightbox]
Clicking either the dark area around the iframe or the x at the top right corner closes the lightbox. The same way it works for default image lightboxes.
Settings
There’s only one setting. You add the domains…

Note any posts that contain a rumble link will need to be “rebuild hmtl” via the post wrench
