We’ve just landed a family of features that transforms the Full Page Search into a significantly more powerful tool for moderation and site cleanup.
Previously, search was great for finding things, but acting on them (especially in bulk) was limited. We’ve changed that.
1. Granular Selection (Posts vs. Topics) and Delete Posts action.
You can now use the bulk select tool in Full Page Search to act on individual posts, not just topics.
- How it works: Enable bulk select on the search page. Select posts and click the new delete post button.
- Why it helps: If a user has posted the same spammy reply in 20 different topics, you don’t want to delete the topics, you can now delete the specific replies.
(Also keep in mind that you can delete users from the admin panel, but in some cases you may want to keep them around - maybe it was an honest mistake and they messed up and did not understand guidelines)
2. New Search Filters
To make that selection easier, we’ve added two new advanced search filters:
in:all-posts: By default, search groups results by topic (showing the most relevant post). Adding this filter returns every single post that matches your query, even if they are in the same topic.in:replies: Filters results to only show replies (excluding the topic starting post).
The “Search & Destroy” Workflow
These features work best together. Here is a common scenario that is now effortless:
- Search: Find a specific phrase that needs cleanup:
300 somewhere street in:all-posts. - Select: Use the “Select All” button to grab all matches on the page.
- Destroy: Click the wrench icon and select Delete Posts.
Summary of changes
- Added
