On a few boards I do not get bold formatted hits in the results when I do a search query, I can not find any plugin that might interfere with this behavior.
Is anyone else experiencing the same? I can not reproduce on meta.

I also tested in /safe-mode/, and still have the same issue.
I’m not getting bold formatting on my keywords. I installed a new discourse about two weeks ago using the 30 minute guide.

I just merged a PR with a lot of changes to the full page search screen, including a fix for the missing highlighting in bold of the keywords in the results. Can you check whether that fixes your issue?

It does indeed. My keywords are now in bold. 
And the new search box looks pretty swish too. 
I can confirm the issue has been fixed too on my board.
