See the users and topics behind the numbers in admin reports

We’ve updated the Signups, New Contributors, and Accepted Solutions reports to show the specific users and posts behind the numbers. You can access these reports from the Reports list or by clicking by clicking the corresponding card in the Highlights section of the new admin dashboard:

The Signups (/admin/reports/signups) and New Contributors (/admin/reports/new_contributors) reports show the users who signed up or contributed (i.e. posted), respectively, during the selected period:

The Accepted Solutions (/admin/reports/accepted_solutions) report shows the topics that were solved during the selected period, along with who solved them and the topic’s category:

Note: The Accepted Solutions report and corresponding dashboard card are only shown in communities with at least one support category.

Are there other reports where you’d like to see this sort of granular detail? Let us know!

I do like the report details – and would like see even more relevant information like:

Signups

  • Primary Email
  • Link to user admin (/admin/users/user-ID/user-name)
  • Trust Level

I noticed that only activated users are shown, but I would assume them as “signed up” too.

New Contributors

  • Link to the 1st post
  • Stats: read time, topics viewed, posts read

Accepted Solutions

  • original poster
  • topic created on (date)

DAU / MAU

  • most active users

Hi, presumably not pushed to hosted sites yet?

Absolutely. Would love to see a breakdown of topics behind a traffic spike, or users behind a rise in “likes” … being able to drill down seems like it would be valuable in a lot of areas.

This looks great, thank you.

Usually, we do announce things here as soon as they are merged. There will often be some delay between that and when you see it on your site, but most will see them within a couple days.

That said, when things get deployed to a given site depends on a number of things, some of which are in our control, and some of which are in your own control.

We are working on making the “manage updates” page in your site a place that helps you more easily answer this question.

The natural instinct is to go look if the impression is the feature is out.

We’re on the latest update string but hosted seems to have a bit of a delay.

Yep, understood. For the time being, understand there will always be a bit of a delay, but we are shortening it and making what delay remains more transparent.

Thanks for sharing!

Could you provide a few more details about how the information you’re asking for would be useful to you? That would help us understand the best way to address those needs in these reports, or perhaps in other areas like the dashboard itself.

Some of this you can do today on the traffic explorer — that is the best place to start answering questions related to traffic changes (e.g, where did these users come from, where did they go, etc.).

Understood, wasn’t sure if this was something needing to be enabled on my end or not.

In general, I assume this information to be of interest in the respective context, but there are some current use cases too:

Signups

Currently, I am monitoring user registrations as part of a marketing campaign. I have noticed a lot of fake accounts in recent weeks, for which I am temporarily freezing the Trust Level if the users have certain email domains. The additional information help keep track of what is going on.

New Contributors

Here, the context of the new contribution is particularly relevant, especially for support requests, as it helps build a picture of the user. For example, has the user spent some time exploring the community, or did they sign up and immediately post their question?

Accepted Solutions

To understand which user was helped (not just who provided the help) and how long it took for the topic to be marked as solved.

DAU / MAU

To better understand which users contribute to the community’s stickiness.
