Feature Request:
Separate settings to enable/disable AI bot in DMs/channels/topic discussions
Problem:
Currently, for a persona, there are settings for “allow chat” and “allow mentions”.
If “allow mentions” is enabled, the AI bot can chat in channels and in topic discussions.
It is not possible to allow the AI bot to talk in channels but not in topic discussions.
- Allowing the AI bot in topic discussions can be useful, but topics can easily be flooded with AI-generated content.
- Replying to the bot’s message triggers the AI bot to reply. This is the correct behavior, but users don’t realize it and sometimes don’t mean to trigger it (they should use the reply button below). This can lead to discussions continuing with joking/irrelevant content, which can be annoying.
This is both good and bad: good for more interactions, bad for too much AI-generated content.
Proposed Solution:
- Separate settings to enable AI bot chat in DMs/channels/topics.
For our use case, we would like to have AI bot chats only in channels, which is fun and helpful. The content is cleared out in days. - “Add quotas so you can throttle it even further” (@sam mentioned this in chat, he might already have some thoughts on this…)

Hope this can be considered soon. We’d like to enable AI bot chat, but too much AI-generated content in topic discussions doesn’t look good.
