That would be a rather big change, it is not on the roadmap at the moment, we have long term plans for category moderation it is possible this would fit there.

We are looking for a way to limit visibility of specific tag in our instance (related to members not visitors).
Is this feature still in the planning stage, or is there a current workaround available?

Is that what you are looking for, or did I misunderstand?
If you set it to trust_level_0, the tags from this group will be only visible to registered users.
