Here on Meta, the site logo used to be the full word ‘Discourse’. Now, it’s just the ‘D’, as used in topics.

How observant you are! We changed this on mobile to make room for the header navigation.
Ah! That explains it. It looks a bit weird though, having a large gap between the D and the locale switcher
