phntxx is experiencing an issue where emails to a specific user are skipped with a “550 User does not exist” error, despite the user’s profile being accessible. phntxx suspects the issue is related to the user’s email address, which was verified using this guide.
@Stephen suggests that the error might be due to the account being deleted or the email address being incorrectly entered. phntxx clarifies that the error is coming from Discourse, not the mail server.
After sharing a screenshot of the error, zogstrip suggests that the 550 error code usually means the recipient email address does not exist on the server. phntxx confirms that sending an email to the address reveals the issue and thanks zogstrip for the advice, which resolves the problem.
I have an issue whereby whenever I try to send a e-mail to a specific user, the message is automatically skipped, with the reason “550 User does not exist”, despite the links redirecting me to the profile of the user.
I suspect that this is linked with the e-mail address of the user, as temporarily changing it did not result in any unexpected behavior.
I have also tried deleting and recreating the account, leading to the same result (550 user does not exist)
