Slider page loading indicator does not work with header submenus

AI-generated summary

The discussion addresses a bug where the slider page loading indicator fails to appear when using header submenus. davidkingham initially reported that enabling the slider setting results in the indicator not showing at all. Canapin attempted to reproduce the issue but claimed it worked correctly, providing a video demonstration of the slider appearing over the submenu.

However, Don successfully reproduced the bug and identified the root cause: the issue occurs specifically when the component’s Fixed mode setting is active. In this configuration, the header submenu component shares the same z-index as the slider loader, causing the submenu to obscure the loading indicator. Don provided a screenshot illustrating the problem and linked to the relevant CSS code in the discourse-header-submenus repository, highlighting the conflict in styling rules that leads to the visual bug.

With the site setting page loading indicator set to slider and using header submenus, the slider does not appear at all.

Hi David

I can’t repro: after enabling the component, I see the slider working on top of the header submenu:

When this setting is ON this component has the same z-index like slider loader which is hide the slider.
