Small Update to Meta Trust Level 3 Requirements

Hey everyone!

As part of our ongoing effort to make trust levels better reflect real participation in the community, we’ve made a couple of small adjustments to the Trust Level 3 requirements.

We noticed that there are some TL2 members who are consistently contributing in thoughtful, valuable ways, but weren’t quite reaching TL3 due to the current reading thresholds.

To better align TL3 with how the community is actually being used, we’ve made the following changes:

  • Reduced tl3_requires_topics_viewed_cap from 500 → 250
  • Reduced tl3_requires_posts_read_cap from 20,000 → 2,000

These updates are intentionally modest. A small handful of members may see their trust level update right away, and others will reach TL3 naturally over time as they continue participating.

Quick Reminder! :sparkles: Once earned, TL3 is retained for 180 days, so this isn’t about maintaining an extreme activity level indefinitely.

Our goal is to keep TL3 meaningful while making sure it recognizes genuine, ongoing contribution!

I am not sure I understand this part. Does this refer to the TL3 promotion min duration site setting?

Yep, that’s correct.

Thank you. The part about not needing to maintain it indefinitely confused me. It sounded a bit like it would be enough to meet the TL3 requirements once every 180 days.

If I still meet the TL3 requirements after 4 months, but then take a short break and no longer meet, for example, the days_visited requirement after the 180 days have passed, I would immediately lose TL3, because the minimum promotion duration has expired - even if my break was only a few weeks and not 6 months. Is that correct?
