Subcategory dropdown none navigate to home page

AI-generated summary

A bug was reported where selecting none on the subcategory dropdown navigates to the home page instead of listing topics within the parent category. Don provided a repro and a screen recording to demonstrate the issue. JammyDodger was able to replicate the bug on their test site. A fix was merged by kris.kotlarek and sam confirmed it should resolve the issue. Southpaw experienced the same issue with all or none selections and noted their site is on Discourse 2.8.0.beta8. sam indicated a fix would be rolled out ASAP and IAmGav linked to the GitHub commit that resolves the issue.

Hello,

Repro:

  1. Go to a parent category e.g: howto
  2. Select none on subcategory dropdown
  3. This will navigate to the home page instead of listing the topics which only in parent category

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

I can replicate this on my test site (updated this morning - cc1b45f58b).

Selecting ‘none’ for the subcategory on a category page sends you back to the homepage.

Thanks for posting with a screen capture, @Don! Saved me a lot of work, :relieved: since I signed on to ask about the same thing!

I’m also experiencing this if I choose either “all” or “none” after navigating to one of the sub-categories. I couldn’t replicate it here in meta, though.

My site is on Discourse 2.8.0.beta8, which seems to be the same as meta at the moment.

(Edited to add… @sam is like a ninja sneaking that fix in while I was still typing.)
