Telligent to Discourse Migration – User Account Migration?

Hi everyone,

We are planning to migrate our community forum from Telligent to Discourse and are considering the Business plan, which includes migration assistance.

Has anyone gone through this migration before? If so, were all of your existing user accounts migrated successfully?

Were your users able to sign in with their existing accounts, or did they have to create new accounts or reset their passwords?

We’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Hey there!

I don’t know whats the direction internally nowadays, but unless Discourse team has tooling for Telligent, they won’t be able to migrate for you under business. Onboarding a new platform on their tooling used to require at least enterprise.

I’d send a message to the team, they are really nice people and will help you understand more about the migration. You don’t need to sign in advance to get a quote.

If the team doesn’t have the tooling, we have many community members available to work for you as a consultant and perform your migration while still signing the business plan.

Hope your project goes well!

Hello!

We have migrated from Telligent a few times before! I’d be happy to help you with the next steps.

Note that you are messaging our public forum and since a migration involves private data we should move to a private conversation. You can email team@discourse.org or send us a PM to @team

Ooops, forgot to answer your questions.

Yes, user accounts are migrated without a problem and all users will preserve their content, statistics and profile data.

Users will be able to sign in with their accounts, no need to create new ones. It’ll be as if they were in Discourse from the beginning. They will have to reset their passwords though, they’ll be prompted to do it when they sign in for the first time.
