The solution will probably be to block it in the preview too, which means that “adding <button> support to posts” would be a valid Feature request in future

Indeed, @david. I should have separated these:

Render `<button disabled>`

As stated in a relevant thread, where I was advised to separate this request from a bug in which the button renders in the previewer:
