There appears to be a memory leak

I’ve noticed that the post authoring interface slows way down if a tab stays open for more than an hour or so. The post authoring interface itself doesn’t need to be open during this time.

When using a tab that was open for the last three or four hours (not including time the laptop was closed, but still the same browser session) I had a good 3 to 4 seconds of input latency while typing and every entered letter had a staggered delay before the next one would appear. All in all it took about a minute and a half for a post with two sentences to type itself out.

Closing and reopening the tab made the problem go away immediately.

I have not noticed this issue on my desktop computer, only on a laptop. It’s also possible that the slowdown has to do with closing the lid of the laptop and reopening it a few times.

Using a laptop running Windows 11. Firefox 152.0.4.

I had a tab open at this page for the last 5h and Firefox about:processes still shows about 360MB for this tab on Windows 11 / latest Firefox.

We will need some way to reproduce this.

I’ll see if I can reproduce it on my laptop. Will report in after I’ve given it a go.
