I updated my forum last night and it is now on 2.9.0.beta10 (6affbabfd3)
I’m using Reactions to show thumbs up instead of heart/like. I changed from old Q/A to new Upvotes and now I have two thumbs up.
So, there must be somekind conflict and because it started after I installed Upvote and disappeared after disabling I tagged this to Upvote 
If all you want is for likes to be a thumb rather than a heart you might check out Change the Like Icon to 
I have to start take some english lessons. Or using more screenshots. Or both

It seems like it’s probably a bug; my point, though, was that if all you want the plugin for is because you like and not 
then there’s a theme component that will do the job (though I don’t know how you’d convert over to it, so this is likely not very helpful).
That was then a helpful tip. Perhaps a little bit off topic though But just a little. I didn’t know there is a component too. Must try it.
Now I had a little bit time to dig in this — just because I’ll need Upvotes quite soon.
One thumb up comes from component New like icon. That is expected behaviour.
But the other one comes from Upvotes, and that is not expected. I haven’t enabled likes on settings of the plugin, and even I would it should not matter — But when Upvotes is enabled I get thumbs up to every post.
Is there something else I should try?
I’ve installed both to have a check, and I’m not getting two thumbs? (With or without qa enable likes on answers enabled)
Could you have another bit of custom code tucked away somewhere that’s adding another one in?
I think that I looked at this recently and they use different means to store their “extra” reactions/upvotes/likes.
So I think one of those is from Q/A and the other is the regular like? And neither is from reactions?

Exacly. And because of New like icon it is thumbs up, but yes - the second one is ordinary like.
The first one is from the reactions plugin; the second one is the regular like button.
I guess that you have not the reactions plugin, so you’re getting the from both.
I have the Reactions plugin, the Upvotes plugin, and even the New Like component installed and all active, and I cannot replicate this.

Hmm. That’s odd. It should be pretty easy to replicate having a from upvotes next to the :heart (or with the component). That’s the expected behavior. But I haven’t tried.
Right. Because it’s offering a and you have likes also being . This is exactly what is expected.
As I suggested from the beginning. If all you want is to have a single reaction that is a then use just the theme component and you don’t need any plugins.

One solution is not using Reactions, but then there shall be a mutiny…
Oh, you mean Reactions and not Discourse Retort. I was hoping you were talking about Retort, as I have a client who needs to leave Retort behind. . . .
It sounds like Reactions and Upvotes may have a compatibility issue, whicih would be a bug.

But if Like has been mapped to in Reactions then it should marry up? I’ll have another pop.

It seems to this cause one of the unofficial plugin you use. If I check your site in safe-mode only thick the Disable unofficial plugins than it works fine for me. Can you share which plugins you use? 
Now I’m 100 % sure I’ve tried safe-mode Few times actually.
