Hi everyone, how can I speed up the download of resources under this domain (https://get.discourse.org/discourse-assets/)? When installing on the Chinese mainland, the download speed is almost nonexistent, causing the installation to be extremely slow. I hope someone can share an effective tutorial on how to accelerate this.

It’s unlikely that Discourse’s website is the issue here. I’m not sure what regions it’s active in but I would be more inclined to believe that this is your hosting provider or ISP slowing the download down instead. I would see if other services such as apt/dnf are equally as slow before being sure it’s discourse.
In mainland China, people typically use domestic mirrors from Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, or universities. Pulling packages from the default sources is also very slow. As you mentioned, on domestic broadband connections, apt/dnf often speeds of just a few dozen KB/s, with timeouts and disconnections being common. During peak hours, apt update can hang for a long time. Without changing the repository sources, the experience in China is poor.

I would figure this is why Discourse is having problems then. The most you can do is use available mirrors in the web.china.yml hook in templates of your app.yml file but I don’t believe one is provided for get.discourse.org at the moment.

Thanks for your answers. If I want to set up a mirror site within mainland China to speed things up, what are my options?
I think this might be helpful. It contains GitHub proxy/mirror sites. (I’m not familiar with Discourse setup and don’t know how to plug them into the setup process)
