Translation of posts not always updated

AI-generated summary

monty25 reported that post translations do not always update after edits, specifically noting that an edit to a user’s post did not trigger a translation update while an admin’s edit did. After investigating audit logs and using the forced “update translations” button, monty25 asked how to ensure all edited posts are translated, mentioning a preference for a limit of two edits per day for GDPR compliance or typo fixes.

awesomerobot investigated the topic JSON and observed that the affected post had version: 3, suggesting it may have hit the daily cap of two edits allowed for translations. awesomerobot noted a potential gap in the system where there is no job scheduled to re-queue translation updates for posts that exceed this daily limit.

The translations of updated posts do not always get updated, even when it is the first edit.

For example on Odoo: Account.Move_Line heeft enkel kolommen, geen rijen - invantive I have edited post 8 and 9 as admin user.

Post 8 is from another user. According to the query below and /logs, the translations have not been updated.

Post 9 is by the admin user itself. The translations have been updated.

Query used in Data Explorer:

-- [params]
-- date :start_date = '2025-11-01'

SELECT
  feature_name,
  created_at,
  post_id,
  response_tokens
FROM
  ai_api_audit_logs
WHERE
  post_id IS NOT NULL
  AND created_at > :start_date
  AND (response_tokens IS NULL OR response_tokens != 1)
ORDER BY
  created_at DESC

Results contained post 9 but not 8:

Then used the forced “update translations” button on the post with indeed an update occurring of the translations:

How can I ensure the translations are updated for all posts when edited?

A limit of 2 edits per day is fine. Typically we need one edit to remove Personal Identifiable Information (GDPR) or remove typos.

Looking at the JSON for that topic, https://forums.invantive.com/t/odoo-account-move-line-heeft-enkel-kolommen-geen-rijen/6947.json

for post number 8, I see version: 3 so it looks like it may have been edited 3 times? Is it possible it hit the 2 edit per day cap for translations?

one thing I can’t see is any sort of job that comes back to posts with multiple edits per day later… which may be a gap we need to close
