We’ve noticed an issue with Discourse’s Translate to Turkish feature over the past few weeks.
Instead of producing natural, modern Turkish, the translation always generates text that resembles archaic Turkish or Ottoman-era language, using expressions that are no longer used in everyday writing. This makes the translated content difficult to read and negatively impacts the user experience.
As shown in the screenshot, the translation includes phrases such as:
- “Binaenaleyh”
- “Velakin”
- “Maruz kaldığım müşkülat”
- “İnşa etmeye karar kıldım”
- “Şimdiden tenvir eden”
These expressions are extremely uncommon in modern Turkish and feel unnatural. The original text is simple and should be translated into clear, contemporary Turkish instead.
This behavior appears to have started only within the last few weeks. Previously, the translation feature produced much more natural and fluent Turkish.
Could this be related to a recent change in the prompt?
