Users reported a bug in Discourse 3.5.0.beta5-dev where changing post ownership on iOS 18.5 (via Safari or Chrome) failed because the keyboard wouldn’t open after clicking the “+” icon in the Change Ownership dialog Richie. Screenshots confirmed the issue across multiple iOS devices. JammyDodger noted that manually typing the full username and pressing Enter could work, though the UI appeared broken. Heliosurge reported similar behavior on Android, where the keyboard only appeared after tapping the input field, and user suggestions no longer appeared. Jonathan5 added that the feature worked on desktop browsers and the Discourse Hub app (though the dropdown was empty on beta2). The issue was prioritized as high by sam. Later, j.jaffeux asked for confirmation, and both JammyDodger and Richie confirmed the bug was fixed in 3.5.0.beta8-dev (d9174e7435). j.jaffeux thanked the reporters for confirming the fix.
Unable to change post owner on iOS18.5 using either the Safari browser or Chrome 137.0.7151.34 (ie, both on the latest browser versions) because the keyboard doesn’t open.
Steps to repro: Pick any post, click the spanner icon, click Change Ownership, click the + sign.
Expected behaviour: Search box opens, keyboard appears, search for a user.
Actual behaviour: Nothing happens when clicking the + sign, the search box does not appear, the keyboard does not open.
We’ve tried two different iOS18 iPhones with Safari, same issue on both phones:
On Android I find you need to click on the select box to get the keyboard to pop up and then there is a spot below to type. However at one time when you started to type a name it would give user suggestions. Now it doesn’t seem to see pic for where I click to pull up keyboard.
Cool. I was about to post a new topic but your “similar post” warning caught it… it would have said this: “On Discourse Hub app it’s possible to select the posts, and choose “change ownership”, but the dropdown is empty. 3.5.0.beta2-dev. It does work on the browser on a PC.”
