A user on our site reached out because they were receiving notifications on a topic that they did not expect to get notifications on. They did not comment on the post or manually set it to watching.

Next to the notifications option for the Topic they see this:

They are not the Topic creator, so I’m not 100% sure what happened here.

Any ideas about what might have caused this?

a admin or mod could have changed the owner of the post by accident.

There was some discussion about some 3rd party plugin that was sending such notifications.
