Using threads with existing topics

using the new threaded topic feature, I have a few questions:

1. If threading is turned on for a category, are all the replies in that topic re-formatted to threads?
2. if replies from one non-threaded topic are moved from one topic to another threaded topic, is the threading accurate in the new topic?

This exchange seems to say there is a topic action to do the conversion manually.

Introducing nested replies

Can existing topics be bulk-changed / updated via the Select Posts > Bulk Actions options? Or are there any rails console options to bulk-update all existing topics?

I haven’t seen an answer to your second question.

No they wont.
