What happens when you remove a social login provider?

AI-generated summary

When removing a social login provider, users who previously used it can still log in if ‘local logins’ are enabled, by using the “reset password” feature to receive a password-reset email. Alternatively, if they have the same email address on another enabled social login provider, they can seamlessly log in via that method. To list all users who were using a social login provider, the data-explorer plugin can be used, as described in this guide. jsha initially asked about these concerns, and david provided helpful answers.

If a forum has had a social login provider installed for a long time and wants to remove it, what happens to the users who were using that provider? Will they still be able to login, for instance by receiving an email?

Is there a way to list all the users who were using a social login provider?

If ‘local logins’ (i.e. username/password) logins are enabled, then they’ll be able to use the “reset password” button to receive a password-reset email and gain access to their account.

If you have other social login providers enabled, and users have the same email address on those services, then they can seamlessly login via another method.

This can be done using the data-explorer plugin:

Thanks so much! You rock!
