When I have unread messages in a channel, I see the first unread message when I open it.
I found it a bit disorienting, to figure out where I’d landed in the channel, being filled with completely new messages.
But maybe it’s because I had grown a bit used to Discord and Slack. I am used to seeing the – new messages – line when I open an unread channel for the first time.
I have to scroll up a bit to see the “new messages” line. I would find it useful if a channel opened at about here instead:
