I use a custom header link to keep my site FAQ always accessible, so this kind of crosses over with this other request from my perspective:

Ability to add a custom section of links to the sidebar

One question on this, @mcwumbly. This looks like a strategy to allow a user to add personal links to the sidebar. Would this approach allow site owners to add links that all users would see? Spoiler - I think it should.

If I were able to use that to put the FAQ “above the fold” yet users could dismiss it, that would “square the circle” from my perspective.
