As NateDhaliwal said, the idea is keep topics limited to 1 subject. I don’t know what “the links” are you refer to, we have many on this forum, but I can tell you that the standard behaviour of links is indeed to open in the same tab.

u kunt dit gedrag wijzigen in de interface-instellingen van de gebruikersvoorkeuren my/preferences/interface
het standaard wereldwijde gedrag is om links in hetzelfde tabblad te openen, zodat forums gebruikt kunnen worden door mensen met schermleesapplicaties.

U kunt de standaardinstelling voor gebruikers in uw forum ook wijzigen met de site-instelling Standaard andere externe links in nieuw tabblad openen
