Why is the account confirmation email so plain?

Hi everyone,

The notification emails, digest emails, etc, are all beautifully designed and look amazing on any device.

But why is the email that gets sent to confirm your new account so very plain in its formatting and design? :thinking:

Iโ€™m not 100% sure if itโ€™s the historical reason for itโ€ฆ but the confirmation email is critical to creating an account and plaintext emails are less likely to be filtered into spam.
