The discussion revolves around creating a Discourse plugin for displaying tarot cards, based on the pirate-speak plugin. purldator shared their repository and faced issues with converting text to images. They tried editing the regex rules, but it still didn’t work. After installing the pirate-speak plugin, purldator found that it’s also not working and suggested updating it.
gdpelican recommended turning the plugin into a theme component, as it doesn’t require server-side logic. However, sam disagreed, stating that the pirate-speak plugin, being a markdown dialect, needs to be processed server-side and requires a plugin. sam also noted that the pirate-speak plugin is currently in a broken state and needs to be updated to markdown.it.
Here is the repository for it. My wife tried using it to no avail. It does not convert the text to an image. Either that, or this plugin I based it off from cannot change some text e.g. [m08] (meaning, major arcana number 8) into an image:
I’d guess that today that would rather get turned into a theme component; it doesn’t actually need to be a plugin, because it has no server-side logic. Likely same for your tarot project; I don’t think it needs to actually be a plugin.
