OrkoGrayskull reported a possible bug with WP Discourse 2.4.8’s excerpt function. When publishing posts with the Publish the full post to Discourse, rather than an excerpt function disabled, updating posts does not work, but only the excerpt length gets updated. However, enabling the function resolves the issue.
angus acknowledged the report and attempted to reproduce the issue, but was unsuccessful. angus shared a test example, suggesting that the issue may be specific to the user’s setup. OrkoGrayskull confirmed that they are saving the WordPress post first and suggested that the issue might be related to text length.
angus continued testing with longer texts and still couldn’t reproduce the issue. angus requested OrkoGrayskull to:
I’m using WP Discourse (2.4.8). Under the “Publihsing” tab, I uncheckedPublish the full post to Discourse, rather than an excerpt. Publishing posts works and an abbreviated representation is displayed in Discourse. However, when I update a post and select the Update Discourse topic function, the post does not update or submit the changes.
However, if I enable the Publish the full post to Discourse, rather than an excerpt. function, then updates also work, or the Update Discourse topic function works correctly.
I’m only posting from WordPress to Discourse. So yes, I am sure that I am saving the WordPress post first. Maybe it’s not happing with short texts. Could you try it with longer texts like 1500 words and more?
