Welcome. I started using UNIX in production systems (trading systems, satellites, satcom trackers and controller) in 1987 and deployed Linux Slackware v0.8 across the USAF in 1993 replacing all Air Combat Command’s SMTP relays. Believe-it-or-not, I started working on the Internet backbone around 1988 and have been working in the Linux/UNIX/networking realm ever since. My work on cybersecurity has been featured in Popular Science magazine and the academic world credits me with formulating the original concepts of cyber situational awareness (CSA) and network security situational awareness (NSSA) based on some peer-reviewed techincal papers I wrote 20 years ago after successfully defending the USAF against their first documented cyberattack, including one published in the Communication of the ACM (2000). I formed UNIX.COM as a forum long before Facebook, Twitter, or StackExchange and have been working in technology so long, that I do not take it so seriously or have any ego about it because it is just fun. Feel free to contact me if you need help or want to link up on social media. I have been helping other technical people for over 30 years and recently have taken up learning Discourse plugin development, Rails and Ember in 2020. 2021, well who knows! Cheers.
