Alfonso Sánchez Uzábal is a free software developer and co-founder in Montera34, a web development studio established in 2004.
While he was studying architecture in the Technical School of Architecture of Madrid he worked as text editor, webmaster and GNU/Linux sysadmin in Ciudades para un Futuro más Sostenible electronic library.
In 2007 he launched with other architects and programmers Meipi, a platform to create collaborative spaces using maps, in response to his interest in free ecosystems of collaboration and digital cartographies.
Also in 2007 he started with some friends the Obsoletos project where they make creative system to recuperate e-waste and they learn in a fun way how technology works.
He is co-founder of Lab Place, a rural makespace and coworking established in Oust, a little village in French Pyrenees, where he lives.
He takes part in 15muebles collective where the platform Ciudad Escuela has been developed. Its aim is to recognize and share informal knowledge produced in urban common spaces, using Mozilla Open Badges.
Sometimes he writes about the impact of the use of free software and distributed technology in collective projects. He participated in the collective book Ciberoptimismo, conectados a una actitud with the article Distributed Logic for citizen self-organization.
He has a blog where he writes ideas and code.
