Issue with Empty Red Badges in Discourse Hub App
Multiple users have reported an issue with empty red badges (lozenges) appearing in the Discourse Hub app. The issue is present in both iOS (gingerbeardman) and Android (nathank) versions of the app. The badges appear even when there are no unread notifications or updates.
Some users have discovered that the issue is only present on sites where they do not have moderator or admin access (ClawdiaWolf, not-ethan, and MarcP). The issue is not present on sites where they have moderator or admin access.
A fix for the issue has been submitted for iOS (version 1.8.5) and is expected to be approved and distributed soon (JammyDodger). An Android update is also expected to be submitted soon.
It looks exactly the same in Android too.

I don’t know the cause, but after checking multiple devices that have different forums I figured out what appears to be the common factor in the red dot showing: on all my devices Meta, and any forum where I’m only a normal user (and thus no review queue access) are the ones with the dots. None of the ones where I’m a moderator or admin have it unless there are items in the queue as it worked in previous versions.

I can repro this. But only on sites where I don’t have mod.
