Make activating an Account Gmail-compatible

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around making account activation emails Gmail-compatible. Moter8 suggests implementing a one-click action button, similar to those used in Gmail, to simplify the activation process. Moter8 provides a screenshot and source file of an example email, as well as references to Google’s documentation and a Mailchimp blog post. eviltrout expresses enthusiasm for the idea and encourages a pull request. downey and Moter8 also discuss the possibility of adding a “View on [site name]” button to encourage users to visit the website. However, codinghorror notes that this idea is a duplicate of an existing topic on Meta Discourse.

First off: Gmail may just trigger this on actual subscription double-opt in emails. They possibly don’t intend to display this on account signup confirmations, I’m not too sure.

There was a button just like on the screenshot that after clicking on sent the confirmation to them.

See the Source file of this mail, scroll to the bottom to the scheme divs.

Also look Google’s documentation about this and a Mailchimp Blog post about the matter.

This is a good idea and looks quite easy to add. I’d love a PR for it.

Hopefully it’s not hijacking this idea because it’s quite related, but a similar ViewAction button for View on $site_name would be good to encourage email users to get on to the web site.

Yeah that too! Having a similar button to these “View Issue” ones from Github would be absolutely great
