You can use comments. [comment]: <> (This is a comment, it will not be included) As html comment I checked and the HTML comment is not rendered in cooked.

Not sure about hiding part of a post but depending on your usecase scenario, there is the whispers function. Also this plugin. [image] Discourse Private Replies Plugin Github: GitHub - communiteq/discourse-private-replies This plugin hides topic replies for everyone but the topic starter and the post author. Use cases This can be used for for instance homework assignments where the teacher opens a topic and posts an assignment, and all students make a post with their answers. When everyone has submitted their work, the teacher can open up the answers so the students will be able to discuss them. A second use case can be an auction where something is offered… This sort of question has been asked: [image] Is there an option to hide part of the post from users which aren't moderators/admins? Also – any good RPG plugins out there? Support Is there a plugin which resembles [HIDE] BBCode from the old days of phpBB? I know that a lot of people used it for hiding post content from anonymous users or users who didn’t reply in the given topic, but I want a different feature - to be able to hide post partially and not only from guests, but from non-moderators too. Is it possible yet? Feature I’m my forums exclusievly for roleplaying purposes. We have our character sheets partially hidden from other players’ eyes, so there’s always a surprise when it comes to characters’ abilities, which imposes safer, more realistic gameplay. On an old phpBB 3.2 we used [HIDE] BBCode, which allowed to hide part of the post so it was visible only for staff members and author of the post. Does Discourse allow it in any way, possibly via plugins? If it’s impossible then maybe you could tell me how …

oh cool. I never thought of using HTML comments but of course that makes sense with edit history. now I’m going to use that, thank Jay!

Do I miss something? An HTML comment is displayed in the raw view of the edit history. [image] So it doesn’t cover the “only the author can see it”, right? The history is visible either by staff only, or by everyone: Setting edit history visible to public: “Allow everyone to see previous versions of an edited post. When disabled, only staff members can view.”

In fact, even with a plugin, it would be quite difficult to have text that existed in raw, but was not visible to everyone.

thanks @pfaffman I worked around using [aname=...][/aname]

Ok that was fun until Canapin ruined it with the obvious  I’m going to go drink more coffee and hide myself from posts.

As @Canapin pointed out, it’ll still be visible in edit history or by retrieving the raw post. If it’s good enough that it be hidden, you’re OK, but if you want it private, you’re out of luck.

that is true, that is good enough for my use case.
