An application must be selected to create a topic

It looks like you’ve forgotten to select an application when creating your topic. See the red arrow in my image below

I tried clicking on it but didn’t see anything. But why would I need it?

I think that dropdown is added by the GitHub - discourse/discourse-global-filter plugin. If you don’t want to use the plugin, you can disable it in the settings.
