Could you expand a bit on what your idea behind it is? That will help answer your main question
Thanks for the reply! The idea behind adding a disclaimer at the bottom of each post is mainly for legal clarity and user transparency. For example, in some communities—especially those involving sensitive content, user-generated content, or niche topics—a short disclaimer could clarify that:
• The views expressed in the post are those of the author and not necessarily of the site.
• The site is not responsible for the accuracy or legality of user-submitted content.
• Certain posts may contain affiliate links or mature content warnings.
It could also be helpful in communities that host things like game mods, adult content, medical discussions, or legal advice.
That would be awful noisy. Could TOS etc. be enough?
So is your question a hypothetical? If so, it doesn’t really vibe with the way Discourse operates
We follow a rough version of The Rule of Three
This feels like something that is mostly in your benefit, not so much for the members. It’s like those “this email is only intended for the recipient” messages that large corporations have in their footer. It makes the email immediately feel impersonal. Personally, I would fight tooth and nail to prevent that from appearing prominently in my community.
Yeah, this is a fair one when you have sensitive audiences.
Overall: I think that most people now kind of understand how UGC works, especially the type of people that will actually read your disclaimer.
